Hitachi Plant Technologies employee is employed as a wintering party member of the 47th Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition

Employee, Mr. Koji Ando, was employed as a wintering party member of the 47th Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition.
Mr. Ando, as plant design engineer, has been making the best use of his technical knowledge on environmental conservation, while mainly taking charge of waste management and the maintenance of processing facilities on site for about a year and four months, from the middle of December 2005.

Financial donations for quake-stricken areas

As a part of corporate citizen activity, financial donations have been made to the restoration of stricken areas that were damaged by the Niigata Chuuetsu earthquake, the Sumatra earthquake, as well as the Indian Ocean tidal wave.
In response to the Niigata Chuuetsu earthquake, fund raising by employees and contributions from each company group had totalled approximately 7.9 million yen, which was donated to Niigata Prefecture in November, 2004. Additionally, in connection with the Sumatran coastal earthquake and Indian Ocean tidal wave, 3 million yen was donated by our company alone to Sri Lanka in February, 2005, via the Sri Lanka Embassy in Japan. In Sri Lanka, our company is continuously developing the water treatment project, which is the reason for our contribution.
Our group is developing various activities in order to fulfil our social responsibilities as an enterprise that is involved in environmental and infrastructural relations, with a plan to work even more positively in the future.

We Love the Earth Class

Since 1998, the Matsudo Research Institute (Matsudo City in Chiba Prefecture) has held the "We Love the Earth Class" for 80 elementary school children from the city in order to awaken their awareness of the importance of protecting the environment and of environmental initiatives by Hitachi Plant Technologies Ltd.

Volunteers for the Otsuka Awa Odori Festival clean-up

Our company has an office in Otsuka (the Otsuka branch), and after asking ourselves if there was anything we could do for the local area, we began recruiting volunteers in 1992 from our company to clean the meeting place for the Otsuka Awa Odori festival, which has been dubbed the "the cleanup operation". Furthermore, volunteers are asked to take care of the elderly citizens who come to watch the festival at a special nursing home in the samespecial nursing home in the same meeting place.

Hitachi Kiden Cup Basketball Tournament

This basketball tournament was begun in 2001 for the elementary, junior high, and high school students of Amagasaki City. Approximately 1200 students participated in 2005. In addition, members of the Hitachi SUNROCKERS active in the JBL also came. The purpose of this tournament is to use sports as a tool for nurturing the young, to develop gSports Town Amagasaki,h and to contribute to the invigoration of Amagasaki as a town full of hope and activity.

Amagasaki Sports Festival: Hitachi Kiden Smile Cup

This festival began on Sports Day in 1999. We support the Hitachi Kiden Smile Cup 3 on 3 and Futsal tournaments. We contribute for the creation of a bright and prosperous local community through sports.

SUMA International Beach Cleanup

We have been participating in the cleanup activities at Suma Beach twice a year, in spring and autumn, since 1999. Participation is not limited to just employees; many family members also join in. Each participant thinks about the global environment, deepening interest in concern for environmental issues.

The Autumn Festival at the Tsuchiura Works

Since 2002, the Tsuchiura Works (Tsuchiura City in Ibaraki Prefecture) has held this event in order to achieve closer relations with the people of the region and deepen their understanding of the company. In addition to introducing the factory and opening the work areas to the public, it has grown to include many events. Employees operate refreshment booths, carry hand-made mikoshi (miniature shrines), and give performances at local kindergartens and junior high schools.

Volunteers help supply water and guide runners at the Kasumigaura Marathon

Employees contribute to their local society by volunteering to supply water and act as guides for visually impaired runners at the Kasumigaura Marathon (Also the international visually impaired Marathon Kasumigaura) that is held every April.
