More than 5,000 Pa.s, Nearly 100% Piston Flowability.Introducing a New Dimension in High Function Resin Production Processing.

Resins with advanced capabilities are now being spotlighted as key materials for helping optical and electronic parts meet multilateral market needs.
In order to produce resins of the necessary high quality, a processor with higher processing performance with respect to viscosity and cleanliness is now required.
To satisfy these needs, Hitachi has developed the "Hitachi Shaftless, Lattice-Blade Type Polymerizer", which features shaftless construction and lattice type blades arranged linearly.
Using this innovative structure of agitating blades, super high viscosity liquids of more than 5,000 Pa.s can be continuously processed, with nearly total piston flowability and no dead space within the vessel. As a result, clean, highly functional resins can be produced in less time, with reduced power consumption.

Shaftless Construction and Lattice Type Blade in a Linear Arrangement Process a Number of Advantages.

[1] Agitating blades are formed by line members instead of face members. Consequently we can now process liquids of higher viscosity than our previous maximum of 5,000 Pa.s.
[2] The structure is simple and shaftless. Thus, with less contamination, extremely clean high performance resins can be produced.
[3] Nearly 100 % piston flow has been achieved. Because the vessel wall can be fully scraped, build-up of process liquid residues is avoided.

Test Results Confirm this Performance

Mixing Performance Test

The flow of process liquid is almost pure piston flowability. There is virtually no dead space within the vessel.
The red portion in the picture contains a tracer. Back-mixing with respect to the direction of flow is minimized, as flow of the process liquid is almost pure piston flow. The number of stages corresponding to complete mixing per lattice blade is about one stage for liquid of 5,000 Pa.s.

Dynamic Performance Test

This test shows that required agitating power has been significantly reduced.
The figure shows a comparison of required agitating power between the Hitachi Shaftless, Lattice-Blade Type Polymerizer and a processor with spectacle-shaped blades. As shown in the figure, Hitachi's new design requires considerably less power than other Hitachi models.
Consequently, heat generated by agitation can be minimized, making process liquid temperature control easier.
