What are Lhoest Concepts?
"Lhoest Concepts" represent an advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing system for which Hitachi Plant Technologies entered into technical licensing agreements with Dr. Willy J. Lhoest, CEO of ELVECO S.A. (headquartered in Belgium) ahead of other manufacturers around the world. So far, about 30 drug manufacturing plants have been designed and constructed based on "Lhoest Concepts", primarily in Europe... Hitachi Plant Technologies is proposing "Lhoest Concepts" as one of the major key technologies of its "Total Engineering".
Automated Island System
To quickly respond to trends of the drug market and cope with demands for limited production of a variety of products, manufacturing of drugs is required to save cost and be flexible. The so-called automated island system was created to meet such needs. Small rooms separated for each manufacturing process affords more flexibility in coping with changes in products to be manufactured, compared with conventional manufacturing lines.

Gravity Flow Type Transfer System

Gravity Flow Type Transfer System (Automated island)
This system is designed to utilize gravity to transfer raw materials or intermediate products from upper to lower floor. This could eliminate power-driven material handling systems such as pneumatic material handling system or lifter conveyor system, thereby saving energy.
